The Member companies are committed to reducing the environmental impact of their product and are working with Government and industry clients to create enhanced working practices to meet targets.

Standards

ISO 14000 is a series of voluntary standards and guideline reference documents which include:

• Environmental Management Systems
• Eco labelling
  
• Life cycle assessment
• Environmental auditing
• Environmental performance evaluation
• Environmental aspects in product standards
• Functionally, the standards are broadly organized as follows:
  Environmental Management Systems: 14001, 14002, 14004.
  Environmental Auditing: 14010, 10411, 14012.
  Evaluation of Environmental Performance: 14031.
  Environmental Labelling: 14020, 14021, 14022, 14023, 14024, 14025.
  Life Cycle Assessment: 14040, 14041,14042, 14043.

Complying with the Standards

ISO 14001 is the only standard intended for registration by a third party (along the lines of ISO 9001 or QS 9000). All the others are for guidance.
