ICE Specification for Piling and Embedded Retaining Walls

The Institution of Civil Engineers and Federation of Piling Specialist Specification for Piling and Embedded Retaining Walls third edition was published in February 2017.  Requirement B21.3 states that ready-mixed concrete shall have certified third-party accreditation to the requirements of clause 6.2 of BS 8500-2 which is useful.  However, within the guidance the guidance, C21.3 states '…addition of water on site… …should not be ruled out unnecessarily'.  An extract of the concrete requirements has been circulated to BRMCA members.

Conformity - European Standard for Concrete, EN 206

The ERMCO Working Group, ETC WG4 Conformity has been reactivated in preparation for the European Technical Standard Committee meeting set for 22 May 2017.  This is in response to the European Standards Technical Board edict that EN 206 'Concrete — Specification, performance, production and conformity' should not include normative elements of conformity assessment, e.g. Clause 10.2 and in Annex C.

In-situ strength assessment, EN 13791

EN 13791 and its complementary Technical Report TR 17086 Further guidance on the application of EN 13791:2017 and background to the provisions have been published for CEN Enquiry/vote, where votes and comments are required by 4 April 2017.
