Brett Concrete Wins MPA BRMCA 2011 Customer Service Award

Brett Concrete has won the MPA British Ready-Mixed Concrete Association’s (MPA BRMCA) 2011 ‘Excellence in Customer Service Award’. The award aims to recognise and congratulate those ready-mixed concrete companies who provide a high quality, efficient and professional service. The awards were presented at this year’s Concrete Society Awards Dinner held on 10 November 2011.

The BRMCA issued its latest Ready-mixed Concrete News Magazine in June 2011 with key industry information and a fresh design. The annual magazine was inserted into Construction News, circulated to 23,000 construction industry professionals. Download the magazine here.

BRMCA Publishes Three Cost Model Studies on Commercial, Housing and School Buildings

The British Ready-mixed Concrete Association have published 3 cost model studies on Commercial, Hospital and School Buildings, examining ready-mixed concrete design options versus steel and precast, highlighting the cost advantages of ready-mixed concrete, the programme advantages of ready-mixed concrete and the benefits of ready-mixed concrete in terms of Cost-in-Use, Acoustics, Fire, Energy Efficiency and Sustainability.

- Commercial Buildings - In-situ reinforced concrete is 5.1% cheaper than the equivalent steel option in terms of overall construction costs
- Hospital Buildings - Post-tensioned in-situ concrete is 7.2% cheaper than the equivalent steel option in terms of overall construction costs
- School Buildings - Post-tensioned in-situ concrete is 6.8% cheaper than the equivalent steel option in terms of overall construction costs

Best Practice Guidance for Housing and Agriculture

The British Ready-mixed Concrete Association have recently produced the following guidance documents offering best practice advice to both contractors and the DIY market in terms of utilising the correct concrete design for the job: Concretes for Housing and Concretes for Agricultural Use.
