Other Specialist Concrete

Given below are a number of specialist concretes that can be used for numerous applications, and offer unique benefits to the client and contractor alike:

These are:

  • Underwater concrete
  • Lightweight concrete
  • Sprayed concrete

Underwater concrete allows ready mixed concrete to be placed through standing and/or flowing water to its final resting place.

Specialist admixtures prevent the ingress of water whilst the concrete is in its fresh state, therefore allowing it to be placed into position without the risk of cement loss of segregation.

Lightweight concrete offers numerous benefits and can be used in a number of applications.

Lightweight concrete is generally designed to achieve lower density concrete, whilst maintaining the specified characteristic compressive strength required. This is achieved by the use of Lightweight aggregates (mostly coarse aggregate, but fine aggregate is also available).

Sprayed concrete is generally used for either repair works or swimming pool construction and offers a unique method of placement.

A low workability, heavily over sanded concrete design is literally sprayed into position via a specialist gun, which regulates the addition of a specialist additive to aid hardening times.

Concrete strengths are unaffected by this process and structural designs need not be adjusted for this type of application.

To place an order for concrete please specify the type of work being undertaken and the initial description shown above. Our member companies will then discuss your specific needs with you.
