BRMCA Publishes Three Cost Model Studies on Commercial, Housing and School Buildings

The British Ready-mixed Concrete Association have published 3 cost model studies on Commercial, Hospital and School Buildings, examining ready-mixed concrete design options versus steel and precast, highlighting the cost advantages of ready-mixed concrete, the programme advantages of ready-mixed concrete and the benefits of ready-mixed concrete in terms of Cost-in-Use, Acoustics, Fire, Energy Efficiency and Sustainability.

- Commercial Buildings - In-situ reinforced concrete is 5.1% cheaper than the equivalent steel option in terms of overall construction costs
- Hospital Buildings -
Post-tensioned in-situ concrete is 7.2% cheaper than the equivalent steel option in terms of overall construction costs
- School Buildings - Post-tensioned in-situ concrete is 6.8% cheaper than the equivalent steel option in terms of overall construction costs

Best Practice Guidance for Housing and Agriculture
